Hired is a video series featuring new team members during their first month on the job at Venn Technology.
Join us in welcoming Glen Tyler, Account Executive. We ask him all the big questions every job applicant needs to hear—from company culture to role-specific opportunities.
I like learning the technology. I like meeting new people, that’s what I’m all about. It’s been great.
Definitely. My first sign of feeling welcomed at the team was when I first interviewed. As you walk into Venn, we have a big screen in the lobby, and there goes my name: “Welcome Glen.” That was just for the interview, and I got to shake hands right there at the first spot. So that was the ramp up to really making me feel welcome overall.
The company culture—I heard it defined, and I think this just really sticks, it’s a mullet, right. So it’s very serious up front, and you got the long, kind of wavy action going on in the back. So we’re a very serious company, but we love to have fun and bring our clients into that fun culture as well.
I’ve been part of company cultures before, but it’s just a pleasant surprise overall. Just people going out of their way to make me feel welcome. And I really appreciate that because I’m really the only full-time remote person, but I totally feel apart of the team.
I’m given plenty of resources to be successful. Again, working remote, you can sometimes feel distant, but I can reach out to people over Slack and get answers right away. I find that people are alway available to answer my questions. And when I’m here, which is fairly frequent, I feel like I interact with people well and get the answers I need.
I’m motivated just because we have such a great technology offering, integration services, that we provide for our clients and the opportunity to meet new people. I’m all about being in sales, being an account executive, meeting new people and offering the technology that helps solve their problems. I also enjoying seeing how we’re able to automate and put an end to people’s stressful manual processes.
I was brought in to bring in new business, so that’s my chief goal. I’ve brought in a little bit so far, but I’ve got a ways to go. So, I would really like to bring in a big account within the next 30 days.
I’ve felt welcomed since day one and even before day one here, and that really makes me feel a part of the team. And, I have the resources to be successful. I’m very grateful.
