What’s the difference between Salesforce Lightning and Enterprise Edition?

On today’s Venn in 60 Seconds: what are the differences between Salesforce Lightning and Enterprise Edition?

The question is a bit of a misnomer. It’s kind of like asking what’s the difference between an apple’s skin and the species of apple it is. That is to say, you can’t compare them because they’re two completely different things.

Lightning is a collection of new approaches Salesforce is taking to its application. There are a lot of other under-the-hood enhancements that you may take advantage of, but the biggest thing you’ll notice is the slick new user interface (UI).

Enterprise Edition is simply a licensing tier. There are four main tiers: Group, Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited. With each, you can opt to use the new Lightning backbone, or you can revert to what they’re now calling Salesforce Classic.

So, whatever flavor of Saleforce you prefer, is completely independent of the question of which tier is right for your organization.

If you’re curious as to which combination will give your team the best chance at success, give us a call.
