Part 1 of 2 – Salesforce Integration Made Easy with Workato

Connect dozens of apps like Quickbooks, Zendesk, SurveyMonkey, and more to Salesforce without code

What is Workato?

About two years ago I got turned on to a consumer app called IFTTT (short for If This Then That) now known as “IF”.  It quickly became one of my favorite productivity tools because it made it dead simple to connect my favorite tools to one another and automate actions, namely my FitBit, Google Sheets, Evernote, Facebook, Twitter, Nest…on and on. The premise is simple, when something happens in one app do something in another (or the same in some cases).  For example, I log my daily steps from  FitBit to a Google Spreadsheet so I can track my activity over time.

I remember thinking when I first came across IFTTT that it would be awesome if there were a similar tool for business applications – chief among them Salesforce.  It has been well publicized that Intuit, maker of Quickbooks, has recently deprecated their integration tool that connected their flagship product to the popular CRM application.  In search of another tool to accomplish this task I stumbled upon Workato.

Like IF, Workato makes it easy to integrate your apps without code using trigger events in one system to perform an action in another.

How does it work?

Workato “recipes” are combinations of trigger events and actions.  These actions could be within the same system or from one system to another.  For example, if an Opportunity in Salesforce is Closed Won, create a new Invoice in Quickbooks or when a Case is closed trigger a new customer service satisfaction survey in SurveyMonkey.

In our next post we will walk through how to build a recipe in Workato.

Did I mention that there is no code involved in setting up these integrations?

This sounds AWESOME, so what does it cost?

You’re probably thinking – “this is awesome, it must cost a ton.” The great news is that Workato offers several plans to fit to your budget including, wait for it, a free option.  As you can see in the chart below support levels vary from plan to plan.  Additionally, the Professional plan includes Workato services to help you build custom recipes to match your specific use case.  Venn Technology can help build recipes as well.

Where do I go from here?

In our next post we will walk you through how to build a recipe in Workato step by step. Additionally, Workato is holding a FREE webinar  on April 16, 11 AM Pacific time on how to build your first recipe. Register HERE.
